COSTUME CONSTRUCTION

For this costume there was hardly any pattern altering at all. Follow the patterns instructions for the shirt and skirt. I cut off 4 inches at the bottom of the skirt to shorten the length. She wore a short white petticoat underneath to add fluff to the skirt. In the pattern the bustier requires 3 panels: bustier front, bustier side front, and bustier back. In order to create a larger gap in the front I left out the "bustier front" section when I sewed it together.

I sewed a strip of green ribbon down each side of the "bustier side front" panels before I sewed the lining together and pulled it inside out. After the bustier was finished I tied 2 green ribbon bows and hand stitched them at the bottom of the green ribbon strips. Just to add a little more detail I glued tiny white bows on the center of the green bows.

ACCESSORES CONSTRUCTION

For the necklace I just wrapped a ribbon 'about a yard long' around her neck and tied it in a bow in the back, its a really sweet and simple look. We also tied large green ribbons around the wrist and ankles to repeat the bow theme. Luck for us our grandmother gave us her cotton white opera gloves, but you can find white opera gloves at accessories shops like 'Claire's accessories"(click HERE to buy gloves).

The white tights you can find in at your local Wal-mart, be sure to buy opaque tights with no control top. The wand and clow card book were purchased in a e-bay auction. For the wig we pulled 2 tiny pony tails up on each side and tied rubber bands on them. The wigs bangs were a little long so I took my scissors to them and trimmed them while she had it on.

The crown we found at Hobby Lobby. It is was actually a plastic cake holder turned upside down. We tore off the plate side of it and sprayed it with gold spray paint. The bottom already has small gaps to tie the yellow ribbon on. We placed the crown cock-eyed on the head and tie the ribbons together at the back of the neck. Now that you can look cute when your out capturing those cards!
