Halo
Q:
Hi! This is Becky/Integral from over at "www.paper-wings.org"
I had a question and a potential commission if you guys have the time. I've got a Haibane Renmei costume already finished that needs a halo. You guys were the first ones that came to mind when it came to odd headgear, so I wanted to see what you thought about it.
Here's a good fansite with lots of "photos"
The halos glow, and are about the size of a pool ring. (That's what i started with the first time I made the costume) I'm trying to figure out a way to make a moderately durable halo that either lights up, or is painted in such a way that it's slightly luminous. Maybe like a metallic or pearlescent patina or somthing. I don't know. Or maybe christmas lights. I've been completely stumped on it. And I'm really not happy with the way the first one came out.
My character is Kuramori- the one in the middle on this "screencap"
I'm not sure if a headband is the way to go, since her hair is gathered loosely in a tie.. but since she's got bangs and those princess side-things, one might be hidden? Not sure.
I was just curious to see what you two thought about it.. especially since you often have elf ears and nifty horns and whatnot featured on the site.

Hey Becky!
I have a few ideas. As far as mounting it on the head as long as you are wearing a wig you can hide your headband by wearing it underneath your wig. Place the headband under your wig and wrap the wire around the middle. Poke the rest of the wire out of the top of the wig the wrap the wire around the ring. This should be strong enough to hold up or halo and have the appearances that the wire is coming straight from your head. I'd paint the halo metallic or opalescently, something to refract the light on the halo giving it the appearance of it glowing. I made a little sketch, hopefully this will help you out a little!

Good luck with your halo!
